Zach Crook

Lead Pastor

Dr. Zach Crook was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. Zach answered the call to ministry after his senior year of high school and went to Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX. While at WBU, Zach played basketball (on the JV team), was editor of the student newspaper, and even served as student body president. More importantly, it was at WBU where he met his wife, Jill, who is the daughter of a Southern Baptist pastor.

Jill is a licensed professional counselor and currently works as the Special Education Counselor for EISD. She enjoys running, reading, and napping! Zach and Jill have been married for nineteen years and they have three children; Isaiah, Caleb, and Avianna. Isaiah is a ninth grader who loves reading and video games and playing football. Caleb is a seventh grader who loves all sports and is currently playing tennis, baseball, basketball, and football. Avianna is a second grader and she loves rainbows, unicorns, Barbies, and having her dad wrapped around her finger.

Their family is excited about being back home in Texas where they can experience the joy of Blue Bell and Whataburger on a regular basis! Zach is also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and is optimistic, like he has been every year since 1995, that this is the year they get back to the Super Bowl. Zach loves reading, tolerates running (so he can enjoy Blue Bell and Whataburger), and enjoys almost any sport.

While in college, Zach began serving as a youth pastor at age 19 and served in that capacity for 10 years. At the age of 28, he accepted the call to be a lead pastor and has been serving in that role ever since.

Zach has both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Christian Ministry from WBU. He has a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a PhD from Dallas Baptist University. He serves as an adjunct professor for the St. Louis extension center of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Zach served in churches in Texas and Missouri and has enjoyed the last four years here in Ennis. Zach knows his calling is to equip the saints for works of ministry (Ephesians 4).

He loves teaching and preaching God’s Word and wants to glorify God through gospel-centered ministry. He desires to see people discover Christ, take ownership of their faith, and then radically serve Him.

Above all, he is incredibly humbled to be able to serve God vocationally, and he looks forward to seeing how God will work in and through him and his family in the days ahead.
